PAUSE /
So much of our lives are lived in a perpetual state of hurry. Our culture glorifies busyness and productivity. To Pause is Rest; a moment to slow down and catch our collective breath; a space to be human beings instead of humans doing. We need to SELAH- to pause and stop and listen.
BREATHE /
“Breath is the bridge which connects life to consciousness, which unites your body to your thoughts. Whenever your mind becomes scattered, use your breath as the means to take hold of your mind again.” -Thich Nhat Hanh
Breathing is literally our most vital bodily function. We can live for days without food, water, or rest, but will die within a few minutes without breath. Shallow and fast breathing can contribute to muscular tension, anxiety, panic attacks, headaches, and fatigue.
Breathing more slowly, gently and deeply, helps to calm and relax the body and can reduce tension and anxiety, as well as improve concentration and memory.
At our Still House in NE, we create space so you can breathe, both literally and figuratively.
REFLECT /
To reflect is to think deeply, or carefully, about something—a contemplation. With so much noise surrounding us, it can be hard to cut through to hear our own hearts and minds. Sometimes, we need to physically change our place, and change our pace, so that we can change our perspective. At our Still House, you can take a moment within our own city to retreat to a place where the noise is turned off and you can begin to tune in to the frequency of your soul, heart and head.
CONNECT /
As humans, we’re wired for connection—it is as primal as our need for food, water, and shelter. We live in a day in which there are so many modes of connection; yet we are lonelier and more socially isolated than ever. While there is much value assigned to social media, it cannot replace the power of presence—of sitting around a table, looking each other in the eye, and sharing our stories; and in return, our lives, with one another. We believe in proactively and consciously creating opportunities to connect with God, with ourselves, and with others.
